About the EDLF

The Egyptian Diving and Lifesaving Federation (EDLF) is established in 1983 under the name of Egyptian Undewater Federation (EUF); It was initially only focussing on underwater sport and SCUBA diving activities. It became full member of the Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques (CMAS) in 1984.

The Federation is mandated by the Ministry of Tourism to carry out the technical verification of all diving centres in Egypt as a prerequisite to obtaining the Ministry of Tourism operation permit. In the mid ninetees, the federation added lifesaving activities to its programme and changed its name to the Egyptian Underwater and Lifesaving Federation (EULF). In 2009 it changed its name again in Egyptian Diving and Lifesaving Federation (EDLF). It became full member of the International Life Saving Federation (ILS) on 19 September 1997.
